Around the Web

Did you know there’s an iPhone app that allows you to differentiate between foe and ally through the phone’s camera? Wired.com wrote up a story about this new application from developer BattleTac that tracks your teammates in the field and it seems pretty slick. Naturally, this has only been used in controlled environments thus far, but it’s still an interesting technology. I guess there really is an app for just about everything!

GamingUnion.net wrote up an article detailing their top ten developers in the world. There are plenty of great studios on this list, but specifically, in the number four spot is our very own DICE. From GamingUnion, “Since last year DICE has released Battlefield Heroes, Battlefield 1943 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2, with their Medal of Honor online component due later this year and Battlefield 3 expected sometime in 2011. They continue to be the gold standard in online multiplayer.” Read the full story on GamingUnion.net.

Camp Pendleton is currently the home of a new Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle prototype test site, allowing them to put this new amphibious transport through the ringer. “We can debark from ship, land on the beach, maneuver through the training areas and [conduct live fire] without interruption," Sgt. Tom Bauras said within the article. Take a look at the entire story here.

There’s a pretty interesting video detailing the creation and evolution of the F-14 “Tomcat.” This video shows all of the growing pains found during the development in one of the world’s most famous jets, making for something that’s definitely worth a watch. See the entire video below.
