The staff at BSCReview.com wrote yet another retrospective for the Medal of Honor series, and this time, it’s for one of the milestone installments to the series: Medal of Honor: Frontline.

Released in May 2002, Frontline was more of a direct sequel to the previous games, rather than the narrative told in Allied Assault, as players take up arms once again as Lt. Jimmy Patterson, but rather than have a re-hash of what was seen in Lt. Patterson’s initial adventure, things take place before, after and in between missions from the original Medal of Honor.

Frontline was also the first title in the series to feature the European invasion on D-day on the console, bringing that epic experience from Allied Assault to a new PlayStation-oriented audience. Naturally, there were some issues with visual fidelity with Frontline as the PS2 didn’t have the same computing power as a PC, but that doesn’t mean that the game was a lesser product. “The pacing issues from Allied Assault are not present in Frontline, which is the main reason why I find this one to be my favorite ‘old-style’ Medal of Honor game,” says Alberto Diaz, the author of this BSCReview feature. “Incredible set pieces, a large number of weapons, and steller sound design all add up to easily my favorite ‘old-style’ Medal of Honor game on any format, console or PC. An absolutely essential game.
