In case you didn’t notice, we announced some pretty substantial news this morning. Along with a new installment to our MOH Experience video series, we also announced that from October 4 through October 7, there will be an open multiplayer beta for the PC version of Medal of Honor. The United States Marines are going green! It’s true. According to the story on Wired.com, a Camp Pendleton-based Marine company is implementing solar-powered equipment for their deployment to Afghanistan. This is all in the hopes that this could increase their fuel efficiency by 50 percent, making these soldiers a leaner, meaner and greener force to be reckoned with. Good skills Devil Dogs, good skills.

NASA is looking into a new way to launch spacecraft down the road in the hopes of creating something that can be re-used. Rather than the vertical shuttle launches we’re all used to, NASA is looking into a sort of horizontal slingshot to send unmanned aircraft to the final frontier. This would require a new craft design (as seen above) and a giant rail system that can (potentially) assist these aircrafts immensely when reaching escape velocity. Read the whole story here.

Germany is implementing a new security camera technology dubbed “SEARISE – Smart Eyes.” This system allows for the software to distinguish certain objects within a crowd, distance from the camera, or even activities that appear to be out of the ordinary in a way that’s found with the human eye. This tech is able to function by fixing a surveillance camera to scan a given field of vision, while two “ultra-active stereo cameras” are able to focus on various points and zoom in for clearer views of the action.
