It was a massive week for us here at EA due to the launch of a little game called Medal of Honor! There were loads of great blogs coming in this week, making for some great supplements to the launch of MOH.

The folks from OffDutyGamers.com kicked off the week with a blog post discussing the history of snipers in the military. The post discusses everything from where the term “sniper” was generated all the way to some of the most notable snipers in history. If you’re curious where these specialized soldiers come from, this is a blog for you. Click Here for the blog post Weapons of War: The Sniper.

Medal of Honor Executive Producer Greg Goodrich wrote a post talking about a bit of his experience working with the Tier 1 operators who consulted for MOH. This profound article deals with the reality of what these warriors deal with on a daily basis and why they do what they do. It’s a must-read for anyone interested in the Tier 1 Operators, or even what life in the military is like. Click here for the full post.

To commemorate the launch of Medal of Honor, we posted a few sets of tips and tricks, giving everyone some great advice and helping the uninitiated adapt to the gameplay found in MOH. The first post walks you through some tactics to keep in mind while progressing through the single player campaign, making sure you know all the basics. The second tips and tricks blog came straight from the community, giving players a great starting point for those embarking on the multiplayer modes for the first time. The last of the three posts covers snipers in Medal of Honor’s multiplayer, specifically, how to counter-snipe and hold your own on the battlefield. Be sure to check them out.

Virgin Galactic completed its first successful flight for its space tourism rocket SpaceShipTwo, taking us one step closer for people to commercially travel to the final frontier. The six-passenger aircraft flew for 11 minutes during its test flight and landed safely at a pre-designated airport. Now if we can get astronauts to change their last names to Solo or Chewbacca, we’ll have this whole deal set in stone. Read the full Defense Tech article here.

The Air Force is going retro while looking at low-cost alternatives for light attach aircraft. Using older aircraft models (such as the P-51 Mustang) as inspiration for the body, and equipping these fighters with up-to-date flight systems, the Air Force is making an economical and operationally viable alternative to using state-of-the-art craft for sorties that don’t necessarily make use of all of their capabilities, despite the high cost. The United States Marine Corps produces some of the toughest soldiers in the world, and obviously, when Taser International attended the Modern Day Marine Expo at the Marine Corps Base Quantico, some Marines stepped up to see what the big deal about a little electricity is. Want to see how a Marine reacts to being tased? Take a look at the video below. Spoiler alert: He doesn’t say “don’t taze me, bro!” Read the article at DefenseTech.com or watch the embedded video below.
